The latest version of Websend is almost ready. The new version has a built in filter and the ability to interface with the filter file from the guestbook to prevent spammers from sending you email through the script. There are also features for emailing the log files and recording and banning of email and IP addresses.
Look for the new release in another few days.

The latest update for the word filter contains an error that will cause the control panel to display incorrectly on the filter setup page. To fix this edit the filter.dat file in a text editor and remove the line that reads <iframe src=http:*.</iframe>
The latest update of the word filter has this removed already.

The Spammers have realized that trying to spam the Anti-Spam Guestbook is a waste of time.
We haven't had an attempt to spam the guestbook since mid April! Prior to that there were 10 to 50 attempts per day.
Other users have also reported a drop in the spam attacks to their guestbooks.
The only guestbooks spammed were the ones that were set up incorectly and then forgot about. Remember that you have to keep the word filter up to date and check your guestbook once in a while! Using the notification feature is a good idea so you know when someone has posted.
Version 3.40 has a built in word and scan filter update so with the click of a button you can keep your guestbook secure.

The newest version is now Released!
Testing is complete and version 3.40 is now released.
Version 3.XX and the new version use the same database format so if you want to upgrade or want to try it out you will not lose any entries in the guestbook if you switch back.
There are a lot of changes in this version, see the README file for a detailed list. Users of version 3.XX will be familiar with the interface.
If you upgrade and don't want to lose the changes you have made to the guestbook then you will need to have copies of a few files. See the SETUP.txt file for more information.
v3.40 now has the ability for 2 additional user created fields, Access bans, Improved scanning ,Custom and standard templates, Tracking of Page views,bans,spammers caught. Plus lots more.

The spammers must read this website as since I posted the last update below we have been hit over 100 times, 42 in one day with not one getting through!
Just more proof as to how well this script works.
Ok, on to the news about the new version. It seems that the language files are going to take some time to translate. I tried to cheat and use the translator at GOOGLE but according to my friend Andrea in Italy it doesn't do a very good job. So once again I am asking anyone that has a little time and can translate from English into French,German,Spanish etc. please contact me if you want to help out.
Since the new version is almost ready I think I am going to release it with only the English Language file and as new languages come out I will put just the Language files up for download. To switch languages all that has to be done is tell the script which language file to use, easy.
The new version is in the testing phase right now so if everything tests out ok the new version should be ready in a week or so.
As always This script is only as good as the configuration. Keep your word filters up to date!

It seems the spammers are starting to give up spamming Anti-Spam Scripts. We were getting about 10-15 attempts a day for the last month or so.None got through, now we are only getting about 1 or 2. They keep trying to hack into the server as well, what a bunch of jokers.
The next version of the script is really exciting! Here is what is comming in the next release:
- You will be able to add Comments to the filter file - completed
- Filter can be updated from our central server with the click of a button! -completed
- Language support for French,German,Spanish and Italian. - 50% complete
- Detail level for banlog file Full or minimal - complete
- Banned IP's trying to post recorded in log file - complete
We are hoping to have the new version ready by the beginnig of April or sooner.

Well the updates have been fast and furious over the last few months. Things have been busy with all the requests for features. It will now be a while before the next release is out.
Most of the changes that are comming are to do with configuration and language. The next release will have the ability for language files. There is someone working on the Italian version now. If anyone is interested in helping out with a language file please email me. I need translations for French,German,Spanish etc.
I am also working on having custom error messages for each failure condition.
Since it will be a while before the next release you can email me your requests for new features.
I am also still working on the Forum Script. It's a very involved project and since I am the only one codeing it will still be a while before the first release. If you are interested in BETA testing the first version let me know.
WebSend 1.02 is out. The Windows version has support for BLAT, If anyone is running a Windows server with either Apache or IIS and are using something other than BLAT let me know as I will include the setup info in the help files. Our servers here are all Linux so it's difficult to test the scripts with IIS. We need some more BETA testers :-)

Version 3.30 of the Guestbook script is out!
This release also includes version 2.10 of the configuration script. This release has some minor bug fixes and improvements and addresses some issues for users under IIS.
It is recommended users of version 3.XX upgrade to this version.
As always upgrading is a snap. head over to the download page section and grab it.
On an upgrade it is recommended that you create a backup of the html.dat file and delete the original to let the script create a new one. This release will also require you to delete the session.dat file and use the one with this distribution.

This release also includes version 2.05 of the configuration script. This release has new functions such as the submission page is now part of the script (no more addguest.html) There are also some minor bug fixes and improvements.

There has been a fix released for v3.10
A bug report was submitted that all scanned URL's were passing the filter test.

Some of our regular visitors will have noticed that we were down for a couple of days. Due to a faulty router our website was down.
Everything is back up and running ok now.
A new version of the configuration script for the guestbook is almost complete. There will be a bunch of new features and improvements. Check back in another week or so.

Now that the Christmas season is over it's back to work!
Version 3.06 of the guestbook script has been released.
3.06 is a minor upgrade from 3.02.
3 new variables have been added and 2 new functions to protect you from junk.
If you are a current user of version 3.xx I recommend that you upgrade.
note: Users upgrading from previous versions will need to delete the file errmessage.dat and let the script create a new one. No other changes are nesessary aside from the perl line at the top. The new version will not overwite any existing configuration files.
To configure the new functions you must also upgrade the config script included with this distribution.
Version 1.10 of the configuration script is the latest version and only available in the Guestbook distribution.

It seems there was a small bug in version 3.02 of the guestbook script.
A variable was causing all scanned URL's to fail.
The files have been updated and are fixed.

It has also been reported that emails being sent are missing the message body.
A fix is in the works and will be available in a day or two.

Our latest script WebSend is available for download.
WebSend is a replacement for FormMail. Any information that can be supplied in a form you can have emailed to you right from your webpage. Our Contact page uses WebSend.
WebSend can be used for anything from a simple contact page to more advanced job applications etc.
WebSend can handle any number of webpages. WebSend is secure and will not allow email to be sent to any other address than the one that you specify.

Version 1.2 of the download counter is out.
A minor addition to the download counter. It now supports accumulated totals of similar files.
If you have 3 files, myfile.jpg myfile.gif and myfile.bmp you can display the number of downloads for all 3 files or you can list them separatly as per normal.
Work has begun on the new Anti-Spam Forum script. The first Beta should be available for download in about a month. Check back on the progress of this new script.

It seems that we missed a few bugs with the new server and our Downloads have been offline for a while. It is all fixed now and all the files are back up.
I apologize for the problem, to many late nights I guess.
We have now added linux tar files in the download page so linux users dont have to fiddle with zip files.

Due to some problems with our current webserver we have moved to this temporary location. Unfortunately we can not run any scripts at this location so some things like the download counter, and guestbook are offline until we get into our new home.
We are working on getting our own domain name and server. I can do updates at this site so I will let you know how things are going.

A recent article in the KW Record listed that 310 people "mostly Nigerians" were arrested in Spain and other countries in a massive operation by several agencies. A lot of these Nigerians were associated with the 419 scams prevelant in email lately. Ever get an email offereing you a percentage of 20 or 30 million? This scam rakes in over $120 million a year.

Well folks it's been a while since I have updated the website. The server had been experiencing some problems and I was not able to do my normal updates.
The latest version of the Anti-Spam Guestbook is almost complete! In a few weeks I will be releasing the BETA version. There are a ton of changes to this version and a lot of major improvements.

Version 2 of the guestbook is finaly finished!!!
This version has some very major changes from 1.2. The setup is similar but there is a bit more to it.
The testing phase of this version was a complete sucsess. Over a two week period 0 spammers got through (over 15 were banned). 2 people did get through that just left junk messages (no real spam) like afgsfgfgsdfnkjnnnkl but that led to some further improvements.
Lets let the spammers know we are not going to take it anymore!
Head over to the downloads section and grab the Gustbook script now and have the peace of mind knowing that your guests won't be bombarded with p0rn and spam ads.

Version 2 of the guestbook script is almost completed.
A few more tweaks and checks and it should be ready to go. Here are a few of the changes from 1.2:
- All pages are now dynamic. The script displayes all html. No more HTML guestbook file.
- Script checks for hijacks imbeded in command line arguments.
- Control the number of entries to display per page.
- Improved filtering.
Version 1.2 will still be available and supported for those users who do not want to upgrade to version 2.
